If engaging in sexual intercourse outside of marriage, it's important to remember to limit the possibility of spread of infection (venereal diseases, etc), and to prevent unwanted pregnancy. There are many ways in which one can do this:
The first, and arguably most popular method is for the male partner to wear a 'condom'. A condom is a sheath, made either of treated linen or "skin", which is actually bladder or intestine that's been softened with chemicals. This is fitted over the male partner's erect penis during intercourse, and it physically blocks the exchange of fluids. In this manner, although it's not perfect, it prevents pregnancy and the spread of disease.
Condoms can be purchased in almost any port in Reial, although they are not often advertised publically. There are other methods by which pregnancy can be prevented; however, they are not effective against the spread of infection. These include:
-
coitus interruptus (or 'pulling out'). In this method, the penis is removed from the female partner's orifice prior to ejaculation. This method is somewhat unreliable, but is better than nothing.
- the calender method. In general, women are fertile for approximately twelve days on average following the end of their monthly periods. Sex should be avoided during this time. Be aware, however, that this cycle will vary from woman to woman, and there is no way to tell for certain. This method is not recommended.
- you can also simply engage in forms of sex aside from vaginal sex. Both manual and oral sex are good options here.
Remember, though, that abstinence is the only way to guarantee with 100% accuracy that neither infection nor inadvertant pregnancy results.
